The 2024 Asia-Berlin Summit took place successfully from November 25th to 29th at the iconic Rotes Rathaus in Berlin. This year’s summit seamlessly merged European innovation with Asian dynamism, highlighting cutting-edge fields such as Artificial Intelligence, Quantum Technology, and Health Technology.
The event brought together startups, companies, investors, and government representatives from across Asia and Berlin, creating a vibrant platform to explore and exchange the immense potential for collaboration between these regions.

This Summit marked a pivotal starting point for ongoing dialogue between Berlin and Asia, the world’s fastest-growing region, strengthening relationships that will continue to flourish.
Opening Ceremony:
The Summit was officially opened by Ms. Franziska Giffey, Deputy Mayor of Berlin and Minister for Economy, Energy, and Public Enterprises. In her address, she emphasized:
“As the only summit in Europe focusing on Asia and startups, the Asia-Berlin Summit fosters dialogue and exchange between Berlin and the world's most dynamic regions. Our goal is to position Berlin as Europe’s leading innovation hub. To achieve this, we will prioritize international cooperation, particularly with Asia.”
Susanne Henckel, State Secretary at the Federal Ministry of Digitization and Transport, also highlighted Berlin's prominence as a vital startup ecosystem on the German and European stage. She underlined the significant influence and leadership of Asian countries in the digital sector, reinforcing the importance of strengthening ties between these regions.
We were proud to represent Berlin Business Desk China 柏林驻华商务联络处 together with Berlin Partner at this year’s Summit. Our continued mission is to foster meaningful connections and cooperation between Chinese and Berlin enterprises. As part of the summit, our office initiated and organized a panel discussion on the main stage, in collaboration with China Competence Training Center (HU Berlin) and INAM - Innovation Network for Advanced Materials. The session, titled “Redefining Boundaries: Opportunities for Internationalization for Chinese and German Tech Startups”, brought together esteemed experts to explore this critical topic.
The panel was moderated by Ms. Yiran Li, Chief Representative of Berlin in China, and included Prof. Han Zheng from Tongji University, Dr. Isabelle Harbrecht from Humboldt University of Berlin, Mr. Oliver Hasse from INAM and Ms. Gu Xuelian from QISHI Technology. Together, we explored the opportunities and challenges faced by startups in internationalization, the differences in innovation approaches between the Chinese and German startups, and the emerging trends in global markets.
