On the occasion of the Chengdu International Friendship Cities Cooperation and Development Forum, the Berlin Business Desk China and prespace ARCHITEKTEN jointly hosted the themed event “BUSINESS EXPANSION OVERSEAS: Berlin, Your Gateway to Europe” at the Tongzilin International Community Neighborhood Center in Chengdu. With around 50 participants in attendance, the event aimed to foster deeper economic dialogue between Berlin and the Southwest China region by highlighting Berlin’s role as a gateway to the European market.
Institutions represented included the General Consulate of the Federal Republic of Germany in Chengdu, the Foreign Affairs Office of the City of Chengdu, Berlin Business Desk China, and prespace ARCHITEKTEN. The event brought together companies, entrepreneurs, and government stakeholders to explore opportunities for bilateral cooperation.
The afternoon opened with a welcoming address by Mr. Aron Mir Haschemi, Consul General of Germany in Chengdu, who emphasized the importance of strengthening bilateral economic relations and international exchange. He also emphasized the attractiveness of Berlin as the capital of Germany for companies from Chengdu and China.
Ms. Li Yiran, Chief Representative of Berlin in China, delivered a keynote presentation introducing Berlin’s economic landscape, including its leading industry clusters, vibrant startup ecosystem, access to the European single market, and comprehensive support structures for international businesses.
This was followed by an experience-sharing session by Mr. Alexander Glaser and Ms. Zhang Heng, co-founders of prespace ARCHITEKTEN and longstanding Berlin Ambassadors in Southwest China. Drawing from their entrepreneurial journey between Berlin and Chengdu, they provided practical insights for Chinese companies aiming to expand to Europe.
The event concluded with a lively Q&A and networking session, offering participants the opportunity to exchange ideas, build connections, and explore future cooperation.
