On July 10th, the Berlin Business Desk China (BBDC) had the pleasure of participating in HICOOL Go Global Session II: Braving the Waves, Co-creating Success in Europe, an event dedicated to exploring opportunities for Chinese enterprises expanding into the European market.

The session, hosted by Sardorbek Sirojov, Founder of Globance, featured a series of insightful keynote speeches from distinguished experts representing the Czech Republic, Austria, Germany, and Sweden. Each speaker provided valuable insights into their countries’ markets, innovation ecosystems, and regulatory frameworks. The panel included Adam Kupka, Economic Counsellor at the Embassy of the Czech Republic in China; Valerie Breitenfeld, Commercial Attaché at ADVANTAGE AUSTRIA Beijing / Embassy of Austria; Kai Yang from Marketing and Communication at the IVL Swedish Environmental Research Institute; and Flora Bao, Senior Lawyer at Grandall Law Firm in Beijing.

As the Berlin Business Desk China, we were honored to present why Germany — and Berlin in particular — serves as the ideal launchpad for Chinese enterprises entering Europe. In her keynote speech, Li Yiran emphasized Berlin’s unique advantages, highlighting that the city is Germany’s startup capital and home to 40% of the nation’s AI startups. Berlin attracted nearly 50% of Germany’s venture capital funding in 2022, totaling €4.9 billion. The city boasts a vibrant innovation ecosystem anchored by top universities, over 70 research institutes, and strong collaboration between academia and industry. Furthermore, Berlin offers a cost-effective gateway for international talents, with comparatively lower living expenses and significant government support programs.

We also shared how Berlin’s business-friendly environment, combined with free landing services provided by Berlin Partner, has enabled leading companies such as ByteDance, Huawei, and NIO to successfully establish their European presence.

The event included a Project Pitch Session and a Networking Tea Break, fostering collaboration and exchange among participants from various sectors.

The Berlin Business Desk China would like to sincerely thank HICOOL for organizing this valuable event. We look forward to continuing to support and welcome more Chinese enterprises to Berlin in the near future.
