The AsiaBerlin Summit is the biggest event in Berlin for connecting start-ups from Asia with the business community in Berlin. And we were very happy to see so many Chinese contributions this year, the first year after the COVID-Pandemic.
Hongkong Invest was one of the main sponsors of the Summit. Therefore, Professor Dong Sun, Secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry of HKSAR Government, travelled to Berlin and delivered a keynote speech about innovation in Hongkong. And Renee Pan, Managing Director at Guangzhou International Exchange and Cooperation Center in Berlin, gave an introduction about the business environment in Guangzhou. The Greater Bay Area has gotten a lot of visibility.
Yiran Li from BBDC joined the panel discussion „The Battle for Innovation“ on the first day and outlined the current development of innovation strategies as well as the importance and challenges in the innovation sector in China. In the session “Berlin to Asia: Enabling Collaboration in the Start-up Ecosystem”, we had the chance to introduce the work and task of our Berlin office in China.
We are really proud of the two Chinese start-ups introduced by Plug and Play China, ANKO PC Glazing and ABAKA AI, who managed to come to Berlin and delivered outstanding pitch presentations, despite a lot of difficulties. A big applause to ANKO who finally won the tech price during the pitch session.
On the third and fourth day the AsiaBerlin Summit team organized the following guided tours for the delegations from Asia to show them the vivid innovation and start-up landscape of Berlin and the big support which start-up companies can find in Berlin in detail:
⭐ AI Tour | Location: AI Campus & Urban Tech Republic
⭐ Energy Transition & Green Tech | Location: EUREF Campus & Enpal
⭐ Mobility & Logistics | Location: MotionLab & The Drivery
It is very delightful being part of this story and helping companies from Berlin and China to work together.
With this chance, a big thanks again to the AsiaBerlin Orga team. You were amazing, see you next year! And hopefully more Chinese start-ups and investors could join AsiaBerlin Summit in 2024!
