On April 17, 2018, the State Government of Berlin’s Senate Department for Economics, Energy and Public Enterprises opened its first business office, the “Berlin Business Liaison Desk” (BBLD) in the People’s Republic of China in Beijing. The main functions of the BBLD include to facilitate China market entries for Berlin’s enterprises as well as to advise Chinese enterprises as a first point of contact in China on investment opportunities in the German capital. The office was renamed to "Berlin Business Desk China" (BBDC) in 2021.

Yiran Li, the chief representative of Berlin in China, has 17 years of study and work experience in Germany and a master's degree in Business Administration from the University of Mannheim. She has served in big international corporates as well as SMEs in Germany and China with a comprehensive understanding of Germany and China, especially in the economic context. Ms. Li now actively helps companies and institutions from Berlin and China connect with each other and promote their cooperation. She is Berlin's main contact person in China.
Wentao Zhong, a postgraduate student with the Business with Marketing degree at Warwick Business School. He is responsible for assisting the networking projects and activities of Berlin Business Desk China.
Florian holds master’s degrees both in Modern East Asian Studies and in Social Sciences. With more than 10 years of experience in China related business development and cultural exchanges, Florian is well prepared for building bridges between Berlin and China.
